Omar’s interest in the ancient healing traditions of China began over ten years ago when he discovered traditional Chi Kung and Kung Fu through the Shaolin Grandmaster, Sifu Wong Kiew Kit. These ancient arts helped him to overcome chronic fatigue issues that he had been suffering from since his youth and unlocked a new way of understanding health and wellbeing. Instead of thinking about medical theories, Sifu Wong taught how to develop the skills of feeling – self awareness of the body and its environment and increased awareness of both inner and outer obstacles to the optimal flow of life. These are the zen skills that are the essence of all true Shaolin chi kung and kung fu.
In 2013, Omar first experienced Tui Na from a friend who had learned the art. After his first session, Omar was so moved by the experience that he had the certainty that he needed to learn the art for himself. He sought out the great Tui Na teacher Errol Lynch, founder of Touch Tui Na, who became his Sifu (master/teacher) in this art. Omar apprenticed with Errol and his teaching partner Mariana Arando for seven years in the Touch Tui Na clinic in London. The busy teaching clinic environment gave Omar experience treating patients from all ages and walks of life with a very diverse range of health complaints - from office workers to Olympic athletes - under the expert guidance of Errol and Mariana.
In March 2020, Omar returned to North America and is now living in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Omar has also studied and incorporates into his practice his knowledge of the arts of Chinese reflexology, acupuncture, cupping, kinesiology as well as his underlying knowledge of Chi Kung healing and Kung Fu.
